A Ragu Whopper at Burger King???

Burger King in South Korea is constantly innovating their products in an attempt to get customers in the door.  From avocados on burgers to plump juicy shrimp, it seems that no ingredient or concept is too much.

So, when I saw that Burger King was selling Whoppers with ragu sauce on top, I knew I had to try one out, just to see what it was like.

Currently, there are three different variations of the Burger King Ragu Whopper, and I decided to try the Quatro Cheese Beef Ragu Whopper, with 4 different cheeses on it.

I was welcomed to the store with a picture of a K-Pop idol enjoying the Quatro Cheese Beef Ragu Whopper.

The video screens showed a picture of all three different Beef Ragu Whoppers.

And also a nice giant picture of the Quatro Cheese Beef Ragu Whopper.

After placing my order via touchscreen, I waited for my meal to be ready.

When I got my tray the packaging was for a Cheese Whopper, but they had written ‘QR’ on it, which I can only assume means Quatro Ragu.

Opening the wrapper, the Quatro Cheese Beef Ragu Whopper looked thick, but not overly so.  The ragu sauce was evident from the outside of the burger.

The vegetables also looked quite nice from the outside.

Opening the Quatro Cheese Beef Ragu Whopper up, it looked a little less impressive, especially from the veg perspective. You can see the ragu sauce peeking out from under the cheese.

Three of the four cheeses are clearly evident.

The fourth cheese, a sauce version, is underneath the patty, and it doesn’t look very substantial, at least on mine.

Some of the other sides look really nice, for example this one with the ragu sauce oozing out.

And this one with all the cheese.

Of course, the most important thing to consider is how the Quatro Cheese Beef Ragu Whopper tastes.

The beef patty was well seasoned, and the vegetables were fresh and crisp. The ragu sauce didn’t have a strong tomato taste, but there was a hint of spiciness to it, and it was more like a mild chili. The various different types of cheese were noticeable sometimes, but not at others, making for an uneven overall taste.

At the end of the meal, I wasn’t too disappointed with the Quatro Cheese Beef Ragu Whopper. It certainly is a meaty burger, with the ragu sauce and the patty, and the mix of cheeses can be interesting and tasty when you get a bite of all of them together.  Overall, I would definitely try this again!
