While out at the shops recently, I stumbled upon a new brand of instant coffee that I hadn’t tried before. Called Lookas9, the coffee is described as Slo-presso, which I guess means that it is slow pressed or dripped espresso coffee.
After I got home, I took a look at the box. With a black background, the nice cerulean lettering stands out clearly, and the latte art on the top is a wonderfully shaped heart.
Looking at the back of the package, it says that the Lookas9 Signature Vanilla Latte is made with a blend of Columbian and Kenyan coffee beans, and it also includes real vanilla in the ingredients list, which I took as a good sign.
The instructions also say that you should only add about 100 ml of water, which means that it should make for a very short drink, but hopefully a quick pick-me-up.
There are 10 sticks to a box, and each individual stick mirrors the box for its design.
The sticks also have a nice easy tear at the top, so it was no problem to get them package open.
I took out my nice orange mug…
And poured the contents of the package into my mug.
After I had finished putting the entire package in, I noticed that there was a fair amount of creamer in the mix, and I assumed that some of that was also the dried vanilla powder.
After my kettle was finished boiling, I poured the hot water into the mug cup.
Proceeding to stir the mixture, I got a lovely swirl going in the mug.
Finally it was time to taste the Lookas9 Signature Vanilla Latte.
My first impression was that it is a very sweet drink. There are subtle undertones of coffee in the mixture, with a light bitterness to it, and there is a hint of the vanilla flavor that is promised in the name.
Overwhelmingly though was the flavor of creamer and sugar. It was tasty, and I did enjoy the Lookas9 Signature Vanilla Latte, but it definitely did not taste too much like a coffee.
I think that if you really enjoy the sweeter side of coffee beverages, then this will be perfect for you, but if you prefer a much darker and more bitter drink, then perhaps another choice would be better.
